Firefighter Detail Request and Billing Information
Paid Firefighter Details
The Chelmsford Fire Department may require a privately paid firefighter detail for situations such as but not limited to:
Hot work, such as welding, grinding, brazing, cutting, soldering
Blasting
Underground tank removal
Fireworks and Special Effects
Certain private events
Detail rates
Detail rates as of July 1, 2024 are $64.01/hour and $96.01/hour for time-and-one-half instances. These rates are subject to change based on updates to the IAFF Local 1839 Collective Bargaining Agreement.
FD personnel shall receive a minimum of 4 hours of pay.
From 4 hours to 8 hours, FD personnel shall receive 8 hours of pay
After 8 hours, FD personnel shall receive time-and-one-half detail rate.
For details on Saturday, Sunday, and Holidays, FD personnel will be paid at time-and-one-half detail rate.
For details occurring between the hours of 6:00PM and 6:00AM, FD personnel shall be paid at time-and-one-half detail rate
*A 10% Service Charge will be added to all detail bills. All details must be paid within 30 days of receipt of invoice.
