About the Board

In Chelmsford the Board of Assessors is appointed by the Town Manager and consists of three members for staggered three-year terms.  Board members must qualify as Assessors by fulfilling the course and testing requirements outlined by the Department of Revenue.

Although Board members are statutorily responsible for the full fair cash valuation of all real and personal property within the town, the Chelmsford Board does not manage day-to-day assessing operations.  That activity is delegated to a professional Chief Assessor and office staff.
