Chelmsford Civics Academy

The Chelmsford Civics Academy is a new initiative designed to help residents learn more about how their local government works. Whether you’re interested in community involvement, public service, or simply want to understand the decisions that shape our town, this program offers a practical, hands-on overview of Chelmsford’s municipal operations.

If you have any questions, please contact the Town Manager's Office at 978-250-5202 or email TMOffice@Chelmsfordma.gov

Applications are currently closed but will open December 1st!

About the Academy

Over eight weekly sessions, participants will meet town staff, explore different departments, and see how services are delivered. Each class highlights a unique aspect of local government, from public safety and schools to budgeting, planning, and community development. Sessions include presentations, activities, and opportunities for discussion.

When Are Classes?

The classes will begin in mid-January and continue through mid-March. Exact dates will be announced closer to when the applications open.

The Civics Academy is open to Chelmsford residents and who are 16 years of age or older. It’s a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning how local government works and finding ways to get involved in the community.
