October, 2025 - Chelmsford BPAC Volunteers Clean Up Rail Trail
On October 4th, the Chelmsford Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) hosted a community trash-cleanup event along the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail. Volunteers gathered at 105 Chelmsford Street at 8:00 a.m. and spent the morning working their way from the town center to Golden Cove Road, wrapping up around 11:00 a.m.
The group collected more than eight bags of trash, including items that appeared to have been sitting in the woods for years. Thanks to strong community turnout, the cleanup covered both the trail itself and surrounding wooded areas, making a noticeable difference to this well-used local resource.
BPAC extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who came out to help for going above and beyond. Volunteers stayed safe, worked efficiently, and despite the hard work, had a great time contributing to the health and beauty of the trail.
Events like this highlight how much can be accomplished when the community comes together. BPAC looks forward to hosting more opportunities to help keep Chelmsford’s trail system clean, accessible, and enjoyable for all.
BPAC coordinates activities associated with the trail. Please refer to the Bruce Freeman Rail Trail Event Registration section of the BPAC Home Page for more information.
