As part of its ongoing “Stormwater Matters” education effort, The Town of Chelmsford Engineering Division is installing colorful plastic markers beside storm drains that read: “Don’t Pollute, Drains to Waterways”. You may have noticed these markers around the Center of Town.
The plastic markers near the storm drains are intended to increase public awareness of stormwater pollution. Educating the public not to dump waste down storm drains helps reduce pollution to rivers and streams, lakes and ponds, wetlands and groundwater.
To help with this effort, The Department of Public Works is seeking volunteers to place drain markers throughout the neighborhoods and areas that do not have sidewalks. If you are interested in helping to spread the word that Stormwater Matters, please call the Assistant Town Engineer, Christina Papadopoulos, at 978-856-6701 or email cpapadopoulos@townofchelmsford.us .
