Weston & Sampson Report

With the Fire Station Study Committee recommendations to keep all five current fire station locations, the Permanent Building Committee and the Fire Chief engaged Weston & Sampson to perform a feasibility study.  The feasibility study addressed Station 3 located at 260 Old Westford Road and Station 5 located at 295 Action Road.  

The April 2024 Weston & Sampson Fire Stations 3 & 5 Abbreviated Feasibility Study Report covers an assessment of existing conditions, conceptual design alternatives, conceptual cost estimate, and conceptual project schedule.   

The concepts include a renovation and expansion of Station 3 and a rebuild of Station 5.  The newly renovated and rebuilt stations would include : 

  • Modern living quarters and rest rooms to accommodate all genders and increased staffing 
  • Adequate separation of living areas and contaminated areas, including facilities for proper gear storage and decontamination 
  • Proper exercise facilities to allow firefighters to maintain necessary levels of health and fitness 

Depending on whether the building methods employed are stick, build, or a hybrid, the total possible range of investment for Stations 3 & 5 escalated to 2026 dollars is $20.8M - $24.36M.
